George Smoot: The design of the universe
Astrophysicist,, cosmologist and Nobel Prize winner George Smoot presents a succinct Ted lecture on current theories about the creation of the known universe, which includes an estimated 100 billion galaxies, each containing an estimated 100 billion stars. The galaxies are not uniformly distributed throughout the universe. They a clustered in sheets or 'walls,' with vast areas of dark matter between these groupings. Smoot illustrates his talk with images from deep space photography. These have been processed by large numbers of networked computers.
